By choosing your seafood wisely, you can help shift demand away from fish and shellfish that are overfished or poorly managed towards those that are in better shape. Remember that the seafood selections you see in the supermarket and on restaurant menus are there because people are demanding them. You can contribute to the movement that encourages better fisheries management and abundance in the seas by letting your local market and restaurants know what you’d like to see and why. Restaurant and market owners are most successful when they listen to their customers’ requests. If enough people ask for a particular kind of seafood, the demand will become great enough to make it profitable to sell it. Remind your local seafood sellers that you are not part of a boycott, but rather you are simply asking that they offer more sustainable choices. And when you tell all the seafood lovers you know to choose their seafoods wisely, you are no longer one person, and you are helping to create the movement.

Eating healthy at lunch is not always easy. It always seems convenient to just go out and grab some fast food, or something from the vending machine. With a little bit of forethought you can have a lunch that is both healthy and delicious. That is where the chicken sandwich comes in.

Now there are several different ways you can make chicken sandwiches. The easiest is probably to use sliced deli meat. This is not quite as nutritional as using baked chicken breast, but it will do in a pinch. You don’t even necessarily have to make chicken breast just for the sandwich. If you have them for dinner the night before then you can use the leftovers to make your sandwich. So assuming you have access to some good chicken, let’s take a look at three sandwiches that make for a great lunch.

BBQ Chicken Sandwich

A sandwich with a little bit of cake! Slice up your chicken breast and put them on your bread. Now add some cheddar cheese and your favorite barbecue sauce. Put this in the microwave for about a minute and you have a hot and delicious lunch.

Chicken Salad Sandwich

This sandwich assumes that you know how to make chicken salad. It is fairly easy to do, just cut up your chicken breast and add mayo, onions, and what ever else you would like to add. All you really need to do is put the chicken salad between two pieces of bread or a wrap.

Chicken Caesar Wrap

This is a very easy wrap to make. Just put your chicken breasts on a tortilla. Now add some lettuce, shredded cheese, and a bit of Caesar dressing. If you want it to be healthier, be conservative on the cheese and use a light dressing. This sandwich packs very well and will stay good for several hours.

So there are three great ideas for a chicken sandwich. Find some complete recipes and start enjoying a healthy lunch.

As far as grilled fruit recipes, I have done pineapple, nectarines, peaches and plums. I haven’t tried bananas yet but we’re getting there.

As far as berries, I like to grill blackberry cobbler, for one on the barbecue. By grilling it outdoors you give it is a unique taste you cannot duplicate indoors. When the blackberry season in Oregon comes around, you can pick them to your heart’s content. I will grill one then and give you a blow-by-blow account.

In the meanwhile, one of the great fruits to start out grilling is pineapple. Here is a simple recipe and method of preparing it. With a sturdy knife trim the top and the bottom so that both ends lay flat. Then remove the outer casing vertically around the meat of the pineapple from top to bottom.

Next, you remove the pineapple itself, again cutting vertically, around the core. You will end up with about ten or twelve slices. You can also cut the pineapple horizontally, but you have the core in the middle. Some folks prefer to slice it this way.

Place the pineapple slices in a marinating container. Add a generous amount of brown sugar over the top of the pineapple and rub the sugar on all sides of the slices. The brown sugar interacts with pineapple and many other fruits in a miraculous way. The sugar forms a nice little syrup and marinade and takes fruit to another dimension.

I like to give the brown sugar a little time to mingle. A half hour, or so, covered will suffice. Start the grill. On a gas grill, turn to a high-medium temperature of 350 to 400 degrees.

On a charcoal grill, you may want to shove the coals to one side of the grill and cook on indirect heat. You don’t want either the gas or the charcoal grill too hot.

Spray a little non-stick on the grill to keep the fruit from sticking. You can also rub a little Extra Virgin Olive oil onto the grill. I like to use a wad of cheesecloth, saturated with oil and rub it onto the grill using a pair of tongs. Be careful of flare-ups.

Place the pineapple slices on the hot grill. Total cooking time shouldn’t be much over ten minutes. If you cut the pineapple vertically, you will have three sides of it to grill. Make sure that you get grill marks on all three side of the pineapple, turning each slice with a pair of tongs. Be careful when you turn the fruit as you don’t want break it.

Serve the pineapple warm. It makes an excellent dessert. You can even add a little rum to it to give it yet another taste.

I also recommend the same recipe, using brown sugar on other fruits. However, some can be difficult to prepare. Nectarines, plums and peaches can be extremely difficult to core. Well, they are for me.

Peaches I can halve without destroying them. But, with nectarines and plums I have to core in quarters or eights to be able to trim from the core. When you end up with small slices of fruit, you do not want to put them directly on the grill. You don’t want small chunks of fruit falling through the grill.

For grilling smaller pieces, use a wire mesh grill pan sprayed with a non-stick. And, put the pan directly on the grill.

There are other recipes for grilled fruit, but you will be a little hard pressed to find ones that are any simpler or better.

There are so many different crockpot recipes, it seems there is nothing this little wonder cannot prepare. Some models of crockpots are even designed for preparation and transport, making it easy to take a meal to a social gathering.

Cooking with a crockpot involves only putting the ingredients in the pot, plugging it in, and turning it on or programming the cook time. This frees the chef to clean the house, work in the yard, set the table, or do other duties around the house. The crock pot will not heat up the kitchen, which keeps the area cool in the warmer months, saving energy costs.

Beginning cooks will love this product because it does not require any level of expertise to use. There are crockpot cookbooks and online recipes for every type of meal under the sun. Recipe books are broken out by categories like courses, healthy items, and those that contain five or fewer ingredients. Whichever recipe is selected, no one will know that the person did not spend hours toiling over the preparation.

There are a few tips to follow when using a crockpot to prepare meals. The pot should be filled no more than two thirds of the way in order to provide the most even cooking. Fat and skin should be removed from meat and the ingredient layering instructions that come with the product should be followed. To concentrate the different flavors and thicken juices, it is recommended that cooks remove the lid and cook the meal on high power for the last thirty minutes.

Cooking with a crockpot is a very efficient way to prepare a meal because it frees the chef to do other things while the cooking takes place. Using recipes designed for the crockpot will produce tasty entrees, side dishes, desserts, and even beverages. This product will quickly become the most used appliance in the kitchen.

Sandwiches are a popular lunch or snack food around the world. They are made by placing a filling, which may contain salad, vegetables, cheese, meat, or seafood, or some combination of these, between two or more slices of bread. Sliced bread, baguettes, bread rolls, or even muffins or bagels can be used to make the sandwich, and in many cases, the bread is toasted – indeed some types of sandwiches have hot fillings too.

Some of the most popular types of sandwich include:

* Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches – An all time kids’ favorite, although of course rather too sweet for many adults’ tastes.

* Club sandwich – A triple bread toasted sandwich containing chicken or turkey breast meat between two of the slices of toast, and a bacon, lettuce and tomato filling between the other two layers of toast.

* Tuna melt sandwich – A hot sandwich containing prepared cooked tuna (from a can), cheese, hard-boiled egg, mayonnaise and grated cheese. It can be served on bread or English muffins.

* Bacon sandwiches – Sandwiches containing bacon, often known in the United Kingdom as “bacon butties”. Variations on the basic theme, including the possible addition of fried egg (an “egg and bacon sandwich”), or mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato (a “BLT sandwich”).

* Meat sandwiches – Sandwiches containing ham, baloney, cooked sausages, and so forth. In some such sandwiches, other ingredients are included as well, for example a “cheese and ham sandwich”.

* Cheese sandwiches – Sandwiches containing cheese. Again there are many variations on the basic theme, such as adding onions, salad, or pickle relish (in the United Kingdom, Branston brand pickle is often used).

* Cucumber sandwiches – The classic Victorian English sandwich. Thin slices of cucumber between slices of buttered white bread.

King crab being the king of all crabs is probably the most sought after crab known to man. Due to this, prices have gone up thus making these creatures more of a delicacy than a traditional meal. For this reason they demand respect when cooking and so should be done with care, pride and patience.

For this reason a bit of research is necessary for cooking King Crab due to the fact it is so large, any person should make the best out each individual crab by using all the meat as well as the shells and leftovers for a stock production or a bisque. The king crab didn’t only get its reputation for its size, but also due to having its very own unique texture and taste in comparison to all the other crabs available on the market. This crab can be prepared, presented and eaten in many different ways and be great as a main, or a starter which will satisfy any appreciating stomach.

The most popular way of cooking the King Crab is by boiling, broiling as well as grilling and luckily enough, is very tasty when either hot or chilled.

Traditionally, like most other crabs they are served with melted butter or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, which is recommended for first time
eaters. This recommendation is simply to taste the original and natural flavours of the crab before trying other experimentations. When you reach this level, there are several ways to Spice up your king crab dishes but you have to be careful not to ruin the recipe as after all, the king crab is a delicacy.

A simple but delicious recipe is the well known Alaska King Crab Royale. This simply consists of 2.5 to 3 inched chopped sections of crab legs
which are brushed with a special sauce. This sauce consists of the usual butter, lemon juice, tarragon, parsley and a splash of Tabasco sauce and finally some very finely chopped and diced red onion. The most popular ways of cooking this recipe is again the traditional broiling method whilst reoccurring brushes with the sauce are carried out. Alternatively you can complete this method using a barbeque for grilling it but simultaneously giving it that smoky flavour.

Another recipe for the King Crab, which is very similar, but at the same time very different is the infamous Nuevo Latino style recipe which
consists of grilling the crab meat in a lime butter sauce. Together with this butter, you mix in chilli oil and maybe even some chilli flakes, cayenne pepper (amount depending on how hot you like your food) and another half a lime (juice). Again, brush the crab occasionally using this method until cooked through. Serve this with avocado salad which works well with all crab and maybe a little cocktail or fruit juice, depending on what you fancy.

Though Alaskan King Crab is generally thought of as a rich, decadent food, it is actually low in calories and fat. One 3.5-ounce serving of king crab provides 96 calories, 19 grams of protein, 2 grams of fat, 1064 milligrams of sodium and 53 milligrams of cholesterol.
